FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Find answers to common questions about using ReplayIQ's rugby referee training platform.

What is ReplayIQ?

ReplayIQ is a next-level training platform designed specifically for rugby match officials. We provide immersive, video-based training scenarios that simulate real-world refereeing situations, helping you develop the skills needed to make accurate decisions under pressure.

Who can use ReplayIQ?

ReplayIQ is designed for rugby referees, TMOs (Television Match Officials), and match officials at all levels - from grassroots to elite professional rugby. Whether you're just starting out or looking to refine your skills for top-level matches, our platform has content suitable for your experience level.

What are the system requirements?

ReplayIQ works on any modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) with a stable internet connection. For the best experience, we recommend a broadband connection of at least 5 Mbps for smooth video playback. The platform is accessible on desktop computers, laptops, and tablets.

How do I get started?

Once you've registered and logged in, visit your dashboard to see the available training categories. Start with Practice mode to familiarize yourself with the interface, then progress to Assessment mode when you're ready to test your skills. Each training module includes helpful tutorials and guidance.

What is Incident Review?

Incident Review is a training module that presents you with multi-camera footage of real match incidents. You'll analyze the footage, make a decision about what recommendation you would give to the referee, and identify which camera angles best support your decision. This helps develop your skills in delivering clear TMO recommendations.

How do I choose the best camera angles?

When reviewing an incident, you'll have access to multiple camera angles. Look for the clearest view that shows the key contact or action. Consider factors like angle of view, player positions, and visibility of the ball or contact point. The system will show you which cameras the official reviewers used for comparison.

What types of decisions am I making in Incident Review?

Incident Review covers three main types of decisions: Foul Play Reviews (determining if contact warrants no penalty, penalty only, yellow card, or red card), Try Award Reviews (deciding if a try should be awarded or not), and general incident analysis where you practice identifying key moments and supporting evidence.

What's the difference between Practice and Assessment modes?

Practice mode allows you to explore incidents without pressure, see immediate feedback, and retry as many times as you like. Assessment mode tests your skills against official decisions and provides a score based on your accuracy. Use Practice mode to learn, then Assessment mode to validate your skills.

How is The Bunker different from regular Incident Review?

The Bunker specifically focuses on yellow card reviews, simulating the real-time decision-making process where you must determine whether to maintain a yellow card or upgrade to red. It recreates the pressure and communication flow of actual Bunker reviews in professional rugby.

What is Match Simulation?

Match Simulation provides live transmission (TX) feeds alongside delayed replay footage, simulating the real TMO environment. You watch the live feed, identify potential incidents by pressing the spacebar to bookmark moments, then use the delayed feed to make decisions about whether to intervene or conduct a full review.

What's the difference between TX and Delay feeds?

The TX (Transmission) feed shows what's being broadcast live to viewers, while the Delay feed shows the same content but delayed by several seconds. This mimics the real TMO setup where you watch the live feed for awareness but use the delayed feed for detailed analysis and decision-making.

How do I use the spacebar function?

Press the spacebar whenever you see something in the TX feed that might require review - a potential knock-on, forward pass, or foul play. This creates a bookmark that you can later review using the delayed feed. Think of it as flagging moments for potential intervention, just like a real TMO would do.

What controls are available in Match Simulation?

You can play, pause, and scrub through both video feeds. The timeline shows your bookmarked moments and the relationship between TX and delay feeds. You can jump between bookmarks and review specific moments in detail to make your decisions.

Does Match Simulation run in real-time?

While the video content is from real matches, you control the playback speed during training. This allows you to pause, review, and learn at your own pace. The goal is to develop the skills and instincts you'll need when working in real-time during actual matches.

Videos won't play or are buffering constantly. What should I do?

First, check your internet connection speed - we recommend at least 5 Mbps for smooth video playback. Try refreshing the page, clearing your browser cache, or switching to a different browser. If problems persist, try disabling browser extensions or contact support.

The platform is loading slowly. How can I improve performance?

Ensure you have a stable broadband connection and close other applications that might be using bandwidth. Clear your browser cache and cookies. If you're on a shared network, try using the platform during off-peak hours when network traffic is lower.

Which browsers are supported?

ReplayIQ works best on modern browsers: Chrome (recommended), Firefox, Safari, and Microsoft Edge. We recommend keeping your browser updated to the latest version for optimal performance and security.

I've forgotten my password. How do I reset it?

Click "Forgot Password?" on the login page and enter your email address. You'll receive an email with instructions to reset your password. Check your spam folder if you don't see the email within a few minutes.

How do I track my progress?

Your dashboard shows your history for each training module, including practice sessions and assessment results. You can view detailed history by clicking the magnifying glass icon next to any course. This shows your performance over time and helps identify areas for improvement.

How are assessments scored?

Assessments are scored based on how closely your decisions match those made by official reviewers. For Incident Review, both your decision and camera selection are evaluated. The system provides immediate feedback showing whether you passed or failed each assessment.

Can I retake assessments?

Yes, you can retake assessments as many times as needed. We recommend practicing in Practice mode between assessment attempts to improve your understanding of the scenarios. Each assessment attempt is recorded in your history.

Do I earn certification credits for completing training?

Please check with your local rugby union or referee association about whether ReplayIQ training counts toward your continuing education requirements. Recognition varies by organization and region.
